[BFC SITE] Barnsley FC Fixture to Launch Groundbreaking ‘Shared Reality’ Broadcasts in the USA

    Barnsley FC is proud to announce that our upcoming Sky Bet League One fixture against Wrexham on Tuesday 3rd December will be the first-ever English Football League (EFL) match broadcast in shared reality at Cosm’s immersive venues in Los Angeles and Dallas.

    This historic partnership between CBS Sports and Cosm marks a major milestone for the EFL, with Barnsley playing a pivotal role in the launch of this revolutionary fan experience. Through Cosm’s cutting-edge technology, supporters in the USA will experience the match as if they were inside the stadium.

    Cosm’s innovative system uses discreet 8K cameras strategically placed around the ground to capture every angle, seamlessly blending the feeds into a 180-degree domed screen. This creates a vivid, stadium-like atmosphere, offering fans an unparalleled matchday experience while seated in a purpose-built auditorium.

    Barnsley’s match against Wrexham will be the first of at least six EFL fixtures showcased in this format, with further matches to be announced. The confirmed EFL fixtures include:

    • Wrexham v Barnsley – Tuesday 3rd December, 7:45pm (UK) / 2:45pm (ET)
    • Sheffield United v Burnley – Thursday 26th December, 3:00pm (UK) / 10:00am (ET)
    • Wrexham v Birmingham City – Thursday 23rd January, 8:00pm (UK) / 3:00pm (ET)
    • Coventry City v Leeds United – Saturday 8th February, 3:00pm (UK) / 10:00am (ET)
    • Huddersfield Town v Wrexham – Tuesday 4th March, 7:45pm (UK) / 2:45pm (ET)*

    *Kick-off times are subject to change depending on domestic TV broadcast selections.

    This partnership with Cosm is the latest step in the EFL’s international growth strategy, supported by Relevent Sports, expanding the League’s reach and engagement in the United States. Barnsley’s participation in this landmark initiative reflects the growing global appeal of the club and the EFL as a whole.

    Fans in the USA can already watch an extensive range of EFL matches via CBS Sports Network, Golazo Network, and Paramount+, with this partnership taking matchday experiences to a whole new level.
