Barnsley Football Club players spread holiday joy on their recent visit to Barnsley Hospital, bringing smiles to patients and staff alike. The heartwarming event was part of a collaborative initiative with club sponsor Burendo, whose 'Seven Days of Christmas' campaign has focused on giving back to the community this festive season. During the visit, the Reds players spent time in various wards, chatting with patients, signing autographs, and taking photos. They also delivered gifts provided by Burendo, brightening the spirits of those spending Christmas in hospital. Reds wing-back, Corey O'Keeffe said: "We're incredibly humbled to have had the opportunity to visit Barnsley Hospital and spend time with the patients and staff. Bringing a smile to someone's face, especially during a challenging time, is a great feeling and it’s a reminder of coming together to support one another. We’re grateful for the warm welcome and hope these small gestures made a difference today." Burendo, a Barnsley FC sponsor since 2023, has championed community-driven campaigns such as this one. The 'Seven Days of Christmas' initiative includes a series of charitable activities designed to support local causes and spread goodwill across the region. Daniel Bell, Head of Growth at Burendo, commented: "Social Values are at the core of everything we do at Burendo, so we were very excited to Partner with Barnsley FC on the these visits to the Children’s Hospital and the Hospice. Both organisations do unbelievable work in our communities looking after people when they are at their most vulnerable, so to help in any way was an honour. Alongside the admiration, I have, for the amazing people that work in the hospital and the Hospice. One memory will stand out for me, once the cameras were put away and the videos done, one of the Barnsley players made good on a promise to one of the children to go back and play a round of ONO with them, can only say well done. Happy Christmas to everyone at Barnsley FC, Barnsley Hospital and the Barnsley Hospice and wish you every good fortune for 2025." Continue reading...
