Barnsley Football Club are pleased to announce the loan signing of Dexter Lembikisa until the end of the season. The 21-year-old wing-back arrives at Oakwell from Premier League outfit Wolverhampton Wanderers for the remainder of the campaign. Progressing through the ranks at Molineux, our latest recruit made his professional debut against Leeds United in an EFL Cup tie in November 2022, before making his Premier League debut three days later against Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium. Lembikisa spent time in South Yorkshire with Rotherham United for the 23/24 campaign in the Sky Bet Championship, playing 27 times and scoring his first senior goal against Norwich City in September 2023. In the following season, the Jamaican international joined Scottish Premier League side Hearts, scoring twice and making 18 appearances. After a short spell in Switzerland with Yverdon Sport for the first half of the season, Lembikisa links up with the Reds ahead of the final four months of the campaign. "It’s good, amazing, I’m so happy to be here," began Lembikisa. "I just want to play some games and help improve the team." Sporting Director, Mladen Sormaz said: "We are happy to bring Dexter into the squad and provide competition in the wing-back position. He brings Championship experience, as well as representing his country 23 times despite being 21 years of age. We'd like to thank Wolves for trusting us with Dexter and everyone at the Club wishes him the best whilst at Oakwell." Continue reading...
