[BFC SITE] MARC ROBERTS ON HIS OAKWELL RETURN

Seven years after last playing for the Reds, Marc Roberts returns to Oakwell once again and spoke exclusively to iFollow Barnsley.

Penning a two-year-deal with Darrell Clarke’s side, the 33-year-old will be looking to replicate his success from his first stint as a Red, winning promotion from League One via the play-offs and lifting the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy in 2015/16 – both at Wembley Stadium.

Now, the centre-back is looking to bring his experience to the Reds changing room after amassing almost 200 appearances with the Blues during his spell away from Oakwell.

“Pre-season is always a tough one, you don’t want to get left behind,” said Roberts on the timing of his arrival. “I’m glad I’m here early and I can get rolling with the lads, knit in, and get to know some of the lads I don’t know.

“I know a couple already, but it’s a good time for the club. I’m excited and I’m ready to get going.”
