Barnsley Football Club is delighted to announce the addition of Matthew Craig on a season-long loan. The 21-year-old was part of the Doncaster Rovers side that reached the Sky Bet League Two play-offs last season, setting a club record with a 10-game win streak along the way. Arriving at the Keepmoat Stadium with the club in 20th position, the midfielder helped Rovers to a 5th-placed finish in the league, winning 14 and losing just once in 19 games during his loan spell. Joining the Reds from Tottenham Hotspur, the youngster signed a professional contract in North London in May 2021 and made his Premier League debut on the last day of the 22/23 season in a substitute appearance against Leeds United. The former Watford academy player spoke of his excitement in making his mark at Oakwell. “It’s been really good so far. I’ve looked around the ground – which is beautiful – a really good stadium. The people I have talked to already have been really welcoming, it’s been good.” Sporting Director, Mladen Sormaz added: “We are extremely pleased to welcome Matty to Oakwell. He is a young player who will provide a different option in the midfield with his ability to regain possession and physicality. “We are happy to have him join the squad to provide competition and thank Spurs for trusting us with a talent like Matty.” Continue reading...
We've replaced a Midfielder who looked like he'd had a bad paper round, with one who's had a very good one.
Connell Phillips Hourihane Craig Russell Benson Wolfe That's plentiful in the middle of the park. LWB Attacking midfielder A number 9. Hopefully those 3 positions filled and that's us sorted.
Phillips does his best work as an attacking midfielder rather than a creator so surely that’s one of your 3 to fill? We don’t know the internal goings on re Styles but if he’s ours this season then he’s the LWB for me. As for a number 9 - Cosgrove will deliver that role with maybe Watters stepping up several gears to support.
I do actually have a t-shirt that is older than him, it's older than a fair few of our squad. I only ever wear it on holiday, gets packed every year, then washed and back in the drawer. I fkin love that t-shirt.
Not allowing it, sorry. Football shirts are not included in this. People have them for donkeys years.
