A frustrating afternoon at Oakwell ended in defeat for Darrell Clarke’s side. The Reds started well, with Corey O’Keeffe attacking down the right wing. O'Keeffe played a deep cross into the box, but the visitors' defence headed it out for a corner. Connor Barratt played a lovely ball to Max Watters in the channel, laying it off to O’Keeffe. He squared the ball to Jon Russell who delivered another deep cross into the box but it evaded everyone in a Barnsley shirt and went out for a goal kick. In the 11th minute, Luca Connell played a brilliant, lofted pass onto the run of Stephen Humphrys who controlled the ball well, but his shot was fired over the bar. Blackpool responded quickly with an attack, but Jackson Smith pulled off a smart stop to keep the Seasiders out. The opening 20 minutes featured few chances for both teams, but the Reds looked confident in attack. After a turnover of possession in the middle of the park allowed the visitors counter quickly, finding themselves in their attacking box. Some quick one-touch passing led to a shot but luckily for the Reds, it was wide of the left post. O’Keeffe had a chance to give his team the lead, but he failed to direct his shot on target. A quiet first half at Oakwell ended goalless with neither team able to break the other down. Half time: Barnsley 0-0 Blackpool The second half started likewise to the first, both teams struggling to find their feet in the game. However, in the 56th minute, Blackpool took the lead. After losing the ball in our final third, the visitors countered quickly. Darrell Clarke made a double substitution, hoping to better his team's performance, but three minutes later, Blackpool doubled their lead giving the Reds a huge task to get back in the game. Clément Rodrigues had a chance to get one back for the Reds, but his shot was straight at Harry Tyrer. Just minutes later, the visitors made it three. We started well? No we didn't it was one way traffic. The opening 20 featured few chances for both teams? Watch the highlight Blackpool had 5-6 chances they could have scored with. A quiet first half? By half time Blackpool had towards double figures of good chances. The person who wrote this biased piece either.... 1) Is too scared to speak the truth. 2) Didn't actually see the game with their own eyes.
