The Reds suffered a late defeat to Wycombe Wanderers at Adams Park in Sky Bet League One on Tuesday evening.

The hosts threatened first in the affair, a ball over the top for Dan Udoh causing problems for Donovan Pines and Ben Killip. The pair did enough to clear the danger and prevent an opener inside five minutes for Wycombe.

However, on eleven minutes, it was the Reds who took the lead. A bouncing ball came out to Jon Russell on the edge of the area who set aim from twenty-five yards, the ball arrowing into the bottom right-hand corner via a deflection from a Wycombe defender.

    Half-time: Wycombe 0-1 Reds

The hosts continued in the same vein they concluded the first half, applying consistent pressure on the Reds goal. Watters went down clutching his ankle ten minutes into the second half, forced to make way for Adam Phillips.

Soon after, the pressure told, after Onyendinma was brought down in the box to give in-form Richard Kone the opportunity to convert from the penalty spot. The Ivorian did just so on 65 minutes to level things up.

The Reds were reduced to ten shortly after the equaliser, with Marc Roberts being shown a straight red card by referee Darren Drysdale for a sliding challenge on the touchline in the 66th minute.

A wave of Wycombe pressure followed with the man advantage, Killip been called into action to prevent Lubala on 83 minutes, along with some last-ditch defending in the box.

Two minutes before time, Phillips arrived late at the back stick and side-footed on the full volley over the bar.

Eight minutes were added after normal time, with the Reds still threatening despite the man advantage for the hosts.

However, it was Wycombe who stole all three points at the death, with Kone grabbing a second via a header inside the area to consign the Reds to defeat in Buckinghamshire.

    Full-time: Wycombe 2-1 Reds
