Adam Phillips stepped up to take it and calmly placed the ball into the bottom corner to give the Reds the lead. Barnsley continued to pressure the Stockport defence and Humphrys ended up one-on-one with the 'keeper, but his shot was straight at Corey Addai. A stoppage in play due to Slonina going down gave both teams a chance to re-group in the 25th minute. The Reds almost made it two, when Adam Phillips played a great ball to Davis Keillor-Dunn, but Stockport did well to stop him going through one-on-one. Gabriel Slonina pulled off a brilliant double save, preventing the Reds going in level at the break.
