We are pleased that we will once again be supporting the fantastic work by The Rucksack Project Barnsley by been a nominated drop off point for ever important donations.

We will again be holding a donation drive at our game against Leyton Orient on Saturday 21 December 2024.

This is a voluntary movement that revolves around a simple, but compassionate task to help those that are sleeping rough, or in desperate need, through the cold winter months.

Initial assessments were made for 358,370 households in England in 2023-24, up 10.4% from the previous year. Of these, 324,990 households were assessed as owed a homelessness duty, due to being threatened with homelessness or already being homeless in 2023-24. The Rucksack Project Barnsley are asking for help in the form of the following donations:

    • Rucksacks
    • Sleeping Bags (No quilts or duvets)
    • Camping Mats
    • Warm and Waterproof coats, jumpers and hoodies
    • Joggers and Waterproof trousers (S, M, L)
    • Hats, Gloves and Hand Warmers
    • New underwear, socks and toiletries (S, M, L)

    Food and Drink Items

    • Individual cartons of orange juice, instant coffee, long life milk and sugar
    • Chocolate bars, cereal bars and biscuits
    • Packs of rice, pasta and pasta sauce (as well as pot pasta or pot noodles etc)
    • Tinned vegetables, tinned meat and fish

The Rucksack Project’s Adie Flute added, “Barnsley FC Community Trust have been a big supporter of Barnsley’s Rucksack Project right from the start, over 10 years ago. Partnerships with the fantastic organisations, businesses, schools and colleges around the Barnsley area have been absolutely vital in the project’s aims of raising awareness about homelessness and poverty issues, supporting local and national homeless charities, and directly helping those who are worst off within Barnsley, through the supply of clothing, food and supplies. Since day one we have seen an incredible level of support and donations that’s flooded in via the club and community trust, and I’m continuously amazed at the efforts of the club, trust and supporters who go above and beyond year after year.”

Barnsley FC Community Trust Chief Executive Officer, Kieron Campbell said, “we are thrilled to once again extend our support to the Barnsley Rucksack Project. We are committed to playing our part by designating our facility as a nominated drop-off point for much-needed donations. Keep an eye on our social media pages for updates on what items you can donate and when. Together, we can make a meaningful difference.”

Donations can be dropped off at the Barnsley FC Community Trust reception which is located at the end of Grove Street in the Indoor Training Centre.
