Barnsley Football Club is pleased to announce the appointment of Scott Flinders as Goalkeeping Coach at Oakwell.

The 39-year-old will join Conor Hourihane’s new-look coaching staff and began work with the goalkeepers today on the first day of pre-season.

“Scott’s passion for the game and his leadership qualities will be invaluable as we prepare for the season ahead.”

I wonder what the Sporting Director thinks about him, particularly his understanding of the club and experience he brings.

Presuming Danny was either something to do with the Academy directly or indirectly?
I know the Comms says welcome but there was a social media post from an intern called Jack Green thanking him and a Ryan Hart during his time with the Academy?

He is a plate spinner. The gaffer selects the plates to suit each pole and sets em spinning to suit his specific needs and the head of performance ensures the plates are ready to be spun to said requirements.

Dunno buddy, would suggest so based on what you've seen though.

Let's hope he's a good egg, because fitness was certainly a negative factor last season. You don't go from being 2nd in the table on the hour mark of games, to finishing 12th or whatever it was by full time, if you're a fit bunch.

Would never happen. He's got a very good life with his day job, Mrs and one year old daughter. He's happy to be out of Football. Scared by all his injuries I think.
