Persistent Standing Policy At Barnsley FC - the safety and enjoyment of all supporters are our top priorities.

    Policy Overview

    1. Seated Areas: • All areas designated for seated accommodation must be used as such. Persistent standing in these areas is not permitted as it poses significant safety risks.

    2. Steward Enforcement: • Stewards will actively monitor and enforce this policy. They are authorised to request that spectators remain seated during the match.

    3. Consequences of Non-Compliance: • Continuous non-compliance may result in the following actions: • Identification and warnings issued to individuals. • Deactivation of season tickets. • Ejection from the stadium. • If the issue persists, further measures may include reducing stadium capacity or closing specific sections.

    4. Safety Considerations: • Standing for prolonged periods in seated areas can obstruct views, increase the risk of accidents, and hinder evacuation procedures in emergencies. • In the absence of ‘rail seating,’ it is crucial that all supporters adhere to this policy.

    5. Temporary Standing: • We understand that supporters may stand briefly during moments of excitement. This policy specifically targets prolonged standing, not these brief instances.

    6. Safe Standing: • Barnsley FC has a safe standing area in OR1 in the BAPP Norman Rimmington Stand. If supporters are located in this area want to move then they will need to contact the box office who will relocate them.

We urge all spectators to cooperate with us in adhering to this policy. By working together, we can ensure a safer and more enjoyable environment for everyone at Oakwell.

    FLAGS & BANNER POLICY

We encourage an exciting atmosphere at events and fully endorse the bringing of flags and banners to Oakwell, but these must adhere to the guidelines set by the club in tandem with the stadium’s safety team as stipulated below:

    • The Club reserves the right to refuse the allowance of flags or banners to be displayed, particularly if the content is deemed to be offensive, insensitive, discriminatory, defamatory or inflammatory.

    • Any item that the Club or any of its employees deem possible to be used as a potential weapon and/or compromise public safety will not be permitted inside the stadium.

    • Any item above the area of 60cm x 100cm must be flame retardant and have a fire safety certificate to prove so, provided in advance of entry.

    • The flag pole should be no bigger than 7mm in diameter and 1 metre in length. The material should ideally be plastic and rounded/covered at the end.

    • Flags and banners should be presented to stewards prior to entry to the stadium where they will be inspected in accordance with this list and approved prior to admittance.

    • The Club reserves the right to confiscate any flags or banners brought into Oakwell Stadium which weren’t pre-approved by our stewards prior to entry.

We look forward to a special night at Oakwell and hope for all spectators' co-operation with the above guidance.
