Barnsley FC caught up with Reds midfielder Vimal Yoganathan after his goal helped loan side Oldham Athletic to the National League Play-Off Final at Wembley. The 19-year-old scored in the Latics' 3-0 victory against York City in the semi-final at the York Community Stadium on Tuesday night to seal a date at the home of football for the young Welshman and the Latics. Yoganathan has gained many plaudits during his spell at Boundary Park since arriving on deadline day in January and is ninety minutes away from securing league football for Oldham for the first time since 2021. On how he was feeling post-match when speaking to the Club, he replied, "Yeah, obviously, great! Great feeling, a good experience going to Wembley in my first full professional season. "I'm looking forward to it." Doubling the Latics' lead in Yorkshire, Vimal picked the ball up on the edge of the area from a tight angle and drove a low effort across goal which nestled into the bottom corner and subsequently sparked pandemonium amongst the travelling contingent situated behind the goal in the 49th minute. "I'm happy to get the goal and it's such a good feeling," continued Yoganathan. "It helped us get another foot in the game, and it helped us along the way to get that win." Oldham will face either Forest Green Rovers or Southend United - who face off on Wednesday evening - in the National League Play-Off Final on Sunday 1 June at Wembley. For Yoganathan, it will be his first time gracing the hallowed turf of Wembley, a prospect that is extremely exciting for our man. "Everyone dreams of playing at Wembley and doing well at Wembley, but obviously the focus is on winning that game. "We've done only a part of the job, so we gotta finish it off now." The National League Final takes place on Sunday 1 June, streamed live in the UK on DAZN. Everyone at the Club is proud of Vimal's achievements and would like to wish him the best of luck in the final. Continue reading...
