and his contribution of 6, half a dozen, two three's, you get my gist, he would've been dropped at any other club, maybe even sent out on loan, but Mr Ritchie still stands by him, and yet you two think he's the bees knees, compare his input with that of a 37 year old at Bradford city, who by the way, works ten times harder than Hayes and yet still finds the time to score goals, Hayes did, around mid season, start to look like a striker, you know Simon, goal getter, hitman, poacher, but then his laziness and could'nt give a **** attitude came through again. We have differing opinions, but mark my words, Hayes will leave this club with less than a glowing reference.
Hayes is never going to be a poacher in the ilk of Dean Windass, they're completely different strikers! I'm sure though if you ask anyone who went to the matches at Valley Parade this season who was the better striker they'd say Hayes everytime. To be perfectlty honest i'm not a huge fan of Hayes since he doesn't score enough goals but I do think he has alot of quality and the potential to be an excellent striker. The priority for me would be to find a natural goalscorer for next season to play along side Hayes who will be able to benefit from Hayes link up play.
