snippet from the Star: Davey returned from a scouting mission in the south today. Barnsley are still hoping to recruit before the transfer window closes at the end of the month. Chairman Gordon Shepherd reported that a bid for an unnamed striker was turned down yesterday. scouting missing in the south - Plymouth?
RE: I was thinking him Chadwick or Kevin Kyle I'd guess. Rumoured that Plymouth will bid £450k for Howard.
Chadwick is he ex Everton youth? hmmm, link there maybe. Kyle is a gangly sort, not so sure about him. McKenzie not in side now, Heath gone for experience, he would be top choice, bags of pace, not sure we are in the same ball park as Coventry for wages mind.
and what about the other 3 bids from last week? Have they been turned down too? It's getting to be a joke now all these bids, as bad as all the contract offers we made during the summer that were turned down. What exactly are we offering to be consistently turned down?

RE: and what about the other 3 bids from last week? Most likely making sure we dont pay over the odds for a player.
eg Sheron?

no - that's a presumption you've made based on the fact that we are being careful in offering salaries to players, isn't it? if we wade in and offer a player X thousand a week it doesn't necessarily mean he will be of "championship class"
RE: no - that's a presumption you've made based on the fact that we are being careful Like banging yer head against a brick wall innit?
what you on about?! i think JC is just saying that we are being careful in the money (wages) we are offering to players we have bid for because we don't want to pay over the odds. i would have thought it will be a given that they are "championship class" as you put it
