    Experienced backroom staff.......

Manager - Phil Brown - Clubs Managed Bolton (as caretaker) and Derby County. As a player he made of 650 appearances for likes of Bolton, Blackpool, Hartlepool and Halifax.

Assist. Manager - Brian Horton - 20+years of experience in football management, taking charge of like of Man City, Hull, Oxford, Brighton, Port Vale, Huddersfield and Macclesfield. As a player he made of 600 senior appearances for likes of Hull, Luton, Brighton and Port Vale.

First Team Coach - Steve Parkin - Experienced manager in lower leagues. He also had short spell at Oakwell you may remember. As a player he played for stoke, WBA, Mansfield and England U21's.

Youth Coach - Billy Russell - No.2 at Hull for several years in lower divisions. As a player he was a defender for Celtic, Everton, Doncaster, Scunny & Rotherham UTD

COMPARE OUR BACKROOM STAFF'S EXPERIENCE TO HULL's.

Manager - Simon Archibald Davey - experienced youth coach but has no management experience prior to current role. As a player he made of 250 appearances for likes of Preston, Darlington, Carlisle and Swansea.

Assist Manager - Ryan Kidd - Experienced youth coach. As a player he made over 300 senior appearances for likes of Preston and Port Vale.

First Team Coach - Kelham O'Hanlon - Had short spell as caretaker manager at Preston and has experience as assistant at Preston, Bury and Chester. As a player he played nearly 500 senior appearances for likes of Middlesborough, Rotherham, Carlisle, Preston and Dundee Utd.

I guess my point is, I do not feel we have enough experience in our backroom/coaching staff. I think Simon Davey has potential to become a great manager but he needs support. I would like to see us bring in an expeienced manager/coach into the backroom staff.
Is it just a coinsidence that our strikers are our weakness when management staff consists of an x-midfielder (Davey), an x-defender (Kidd) and an x-Goalkeeper (O'Hanlon). Yet I would say we have seen improvement in all areas except the forwards. I really do feel that this is important if we are to progress, and feel we could do with and experienced striker to join the coaching staff e.g. ex-legends John Hendrie (bring him back) or even Craig Hignett.

    You know it makes sense

Plus money and investment (new owner who has spent more than Cryne) - an extra season in the Chamionship - larger crowds - proven strikers in Windass, Campbell and Folan - bigger squad, a new ground that provided funding. Not still recovering from Admin.

But that's right it is all Davey's fault we didn't get promoted! FFS!

Eh, what you on War-Tyke........ not knocking Davey at all, nor the board!

You are right we don't have large crowds, money etc that Hull do. I was merely pointing out that Phil Brown at Hull has an experienced coaching staff behind him and Simon Davey doesn't. You cannot deny the fact that our management staff are reletively inexperienced. Don't get me wrong they have done well, but I feel they would benefit having an experienced staff member on the team. And more so a striker!

that answer your question war-tyke? I think its a little unrealistic to say we should have made the play-offs this season. So wouldn't blame anybody, for us not overachieving. But I would say a big well done to Simon Davey and his staff for surviving a further season in the championship and making it to the FA Cup semi's. Hopefully next season we can push on and make top ten finish!

Too many cooks..............and all that............but there is a need for one maybe two others

As far as I'm concerned the players know who the gaffer is and its best it stays that way
Simon Davey is doing a great job

But, I do think (and this is an opinion, not a FACT) that we are short of someone that knows the football business inside out. Someone that knows most people in football, a sort of elder statesman of the game.
Someone who can pull a few strings and get Simon Davey the best players on offer out there. And someone who can advice Pat Cryne and the rest of the directors on matters relating to the business of football.
Someone that is well respected as a former player and manager and who can become a member of the board of directors.

Also, we need a business man who knows how to sell and especially how to sell a football club to the general public. For example, to find where potential support lies and how to tap into that.

are you talking about a director of football?

Never know a club have this with any success!

And if the person is advising PC who is to say they are not after the managers position?

An experienced proven scout from the top level would be ideal though!

I can see your point but the backroom staff have experience of doing lower league, we are not lower league. We have taken
the inexperienced route and the only way to get experience is to carry on doing the good things and learn from the bad, there's
    no need to change things.
