Melbourne Stars currently chasing against Adelaide Strikers. Ben Duckett on his Stars debut takes arguably the best catch in the tournament history, before getting out plum LB for a golden duck. Currently Glen Maxwell is having some fun with back to back sweep sixes.
I follow the Sydney Thunder in both the BBL and WBBL. The games are mostly played in the middle of my night, so I usually get up, ignore all electronic media, and watch the replay on Willow TV. In the Thunder's first match earlier this week they were set 183 to win. The commentator stated that every team who batted first and scored 180 or more on this ground, wins 100% of the time. After a great start, where a teenage debutant set a couple of records, it started to look bleak. Then we scored 31 off the penultimate over, and the 100% win stat no longer stands.
Mark Howard makes the commentary. He's a quality sports anchor. If I was in charge of Sky Sports Cricket he'd be my number 1 presenter pick for our home games. Stars awful end to last season has spread in to this. Their city rivals Renegades should be right up there with Scorchers and Sixers. Sydney derby tomorrow morning which Sixers should win.
Not heard of Mark Howard … I’ll listen out for him. I reckon Sixers will win the tournament. I heard today that Netflix have got viewing rights for the women’s world cup ( next year I think ). It’s getting a bit silly nowadays with all these channels … only used to be 2
They always call him Howie and the commentary box is always jobs for the old boys like Gilchrist, Lee and Ponting. I always expect from Sixers too with players like Josh Phillipe and Jordan Silk. It's OK I have Netflix so will be able to watch Lauren Bell steaming in on there.
Sydney Sixers almost identical team for last 5 or 6 years solid professional outfit. James Vince overlooked by England technically correct,
He always seems to get an acceptable score and can get quick runs when needed. I thought England gave him chances in both codes but may be wrong
San Konstas what an innings. His tournament debut and beat the all time record set by Alex Hales for the fastest ever 50. He's only 19 and already in the Australia test squad for the Boxing Day test with India. He's allowed to play against the Sixers in the morning.
I find the name "Big Bash" quite crude. It's cricket. A gentlemanly sport for sophisticated people of rational thought. One can't just be simply bashing one off through through the covers.
It's a big part of the Christmas and new year period to wake up and first thing you enjoy at breakfast is Big Bash.
Living in Asia, the Big Bash is on at a perfect time in the early evening and is something I look forward to every year. Watching that Duckett catch live was amazing... one that will be shown on repeat for years to come!!
There are not many sports I dont like. But there has to be a connection for me to be interested to watch. Eg Barnsley. Yorkshire. England. GB. Europe. I did, (but not so much now) as I like the game, watch a lot of NFL and took on New ENGLAND as my team to do well. Sad I know . I would say, up until my mid 40's watched anything sports wise even tiddlywinks. Regardless. Skys intervention and saturation killed it for me.
Set up nicely is the chase with a par score. At one point Thunder could have been looking towards 200.
Northern Superchargers own Playing in The Hundred has made him....Jordan Silk is always class, but Australia has too much strength in depth for him to get games. Until the last two balls Thunder looked to have it. Great local derby.
