having sat through the game on Saturday it strikes me that in the players may well be more "up" for the game against Chelsea than that against the Fowls
While all the fans want to win derby games more than others the players-none of whom hail from Barnsley-maybe have a perception that the "big" games are the Cup games against premiership opposition-rather than as they see it "just another league game" -despite the ratherforced attempts to raise the tension pre match
just a thought

Although not full, a packed stadium with great support, an English Championship match - one of the best leagues in football, massive wages for doing a job they love, and playing a 'big' club too (local or not) - if they can't get motivated for that Paul then we are wasting our time.
Be No Lack Of Passion From Our Players On Saturday Instead it's a chance in front of millions around the world, to put themselves in the shop window.
RE: Be No Lack Of Passion From Our Players On Saturday my point exactly-but if they can do it for that game they should have done so on Saturday
Agree what your saying Paul, but if conditions different would the players have played / responded different on Saturday? Surely both teams really can't that bad. It shouldn't be an excuse, the players should be able to adapt to whatever is thrown at them. But no matter what team it is, Barnsley will respond the same way against the bigger teams. You see it year in, year out. Smaller clubs stepping up to the occasion, and playing an amazing game. You also get a couple of players each season that get noticed in the cup and then snapped up by the bigger clubs.
