Should have got MOM just for the cruyff turn he did on their striker in first half. Can't help but want him to do well even after all mis haps he does. Hth
Love the bloke, tries his heart out for the club. He's not a bad defender to be fair it's just he occasionally looses concentration and it normally proves to be costly. Give him a good run in the side and I think he will improve no end.
If he didn't keep making the odd mistake,he wouldn't be playing for us.He'd probably be playing in the championship.
Back four looked solid today - still need some more protection in front of them - hopefully scowen can provide that
Twice first half he headed easy balls in our own box that Vale should have taken advantage of. He gifts the opposition at least one great chance a game. But he's lovely.
Two complete **** ups today luckily Vale were good enough to exploit the,m. Will be reassuring to see him back on the subs bench.
Thanks for the input numbskull. The fact that you thought Cranie played poorly sums up pretty much all you know about football. Though you were pretty much in a group of one on that one weren't you. Jean makes at least one absolute **** up every game sometimes it goats us sometimes not but it's idiotic in the extreme to pretend they don't exist.
Its like Mvotowatch on here with every mistake highlighted, shame posters don't highlight other players mistakes like Crainie slicing the ball or getting done in first 5 minutes by the winger who then put in a cross that went through everyone. Having said that about Crainie he was one of the better players yesterday, playing in what I consider his best position. Danny had chance to drop the big man yesterday, but he didn`t. Mmmm.
I don't rate him & want him to be sold. I think he's the 5th best centre back at the club behind Cranie, Ramage, Nyatanga & Holgate and Cowgill's meant to be a good prospect so I'd get rid as playing him will only delay the rise of Holgate & Cowgill. Add to that he's probably on decent money as he was signed when we were in the championship so I can't see any reason to keep him.
Exactly how I see it. I love it when people say, he's made one or two mistakes. Usually that's one or two less than most other players on the pitch but for some reason when big Jean does it, he gets hounded. He's not the most graceful but he did very little wrong again yesterday, he's a presence in the air regardless of where he is on the field and managed to clear his lines even after his mistakes yesterday. Not a world beater by any stretch but far better than he's given credit for. Just one goal conceded again yesterday which wasn't M'voto's doing. And that turn was the highlight of my afternoon.
Yet it's fair game to pull apart every mistake the manager makes on here? Personally I don't care who's picked in the team so long as the team is winning games.
There's something about Big Jean that marks him out as our sort of player. And for that, we can forgive a lot. I can't remember which game it was last season when he hilariously kicked the ball against his own leg. But to me, he looks like a trier, and for that I can put up with the occasional gaffes. At the very least, he offers a huge physical presence in a league where physicality too often holds sway.
Couldn't disagree more. No other player of ours makes consistently the same amounts of mistakes as he does. The sliced clearances up in the air, the charges out of the line to challenge a ball Ramage is also challenging, the constant fouling etc. He's awful. He's funny, lovable & I want him to do well more than anyone could ever know but he won't. He won't because he's absolutely f.cking ridiculous.
