Kieran McKenna getting linked with Chelsea, Man Utd etc for what he's done at Ipswich. Leicester gaffer gonna Chelsea. Is it me or is it crackers? It's the equivalent of Danny Wilson getting linked to Chelsea when he got us promoted to the Prem. Why's it happening suddenly because I don't recall it's ever been the case before.
It’s barmy but my guess is they want someone they can control who will accept not having any say in transfers. If you bring in any of the established top managers then they’re going to want their own players & won’t take the job if they don’t get guarantees.
Same as hype surrounding some players. There are rumours of big bids coming in for Summerville and Gray at Leeds. If I were Leeds I'd sell now while their stock is high because I don't rate either of them. Back to managers if you're Maresca or Mckenna you jump at the opportunity. Chances are if you start badly at Ipswich or Leicester you'll get sacked anyway. Might as well get sacked at Man Utd or Chelsea with a massive pay off.
It is madness for sure. I think a lot of it is because teams are too focused on style over substance. They are choosing these guys based on the possession style they play (especially with Maresca and Kompany) clubs seem more interested now in playing a certain way rather than anything else.
Mckennas done a great job with Ipswich 2 promotions in 2 seasons and spent peanuts compared to his rivals. Supposed united and Chelsea have to try something different to the same coaches doing the merry go round and achieving little morinhio poch etc
There's no right and wrong. Mourinho could come in and sign the best players at another club and be a resounding success again. All down to the players.
Same with any manager. Would mckenna gain the respect of Chelseas or uniteds superstars? I used to see jose as a serial winner. He's more of a serial participant now.
Depends on age. I don't think Mourinho is a dinosaur. I think he needs to adapt to work with younger players. He'd still be a success with older players.
Personally think it's great to see championship managers linked with top jobs rather than the usual suspects. I also think there's a real lack of top top managers/coaches available to choose from. Chelsea have identified a way they want to play with the DOF part of the this process they think Meresca fits this profile, would imagine Leicester will get a few quid compo
I think it's because at the minute there are very few top managers who are both available and not tainted in some way by their recent jobs. But yeah, it's crackers
Chelsea need to come clean and admit that Todd Boehly is responsible for team selection and tactics and require a professional head coach to transfer this on the training pitch. Football Manager 2025 for billionaires.
The football league is just the same as the prem. The same old faces doing the merry go round. Alex Neil, hecky, Darren ferguson, David wagner and so on.
Owners at most levels these days want to play real life Championship Manager with a yes puppet involved. Because of this some managers won't lower themselves to accepting some head coach positions.
I think some coaches try and re-invent the wheel though. What's wrong with simple 4-4-2 and players knowing their jobs.
As I have got older my hatred of the Premier league has grown stronger. It's vulgar and greedy and unbalanced.
Yeah it's got bigger than the governing bodies. Soon it will cut its own throat though as big clubs (from top nations) will ditch the UEFA system. This Super League is inevitable. Then the Premier League won't be able to compete with the Super League.
And very boring, the product ain't that great you could count on one hand games that were worth a watch last season.
Not answering the question but mad that Chelsea sacked Pochettino just as he'd started getting them playing well and winning!
