    It is understood that business associates close to Big Sam want to purchase the struggling Championship club now managed by Scot Colin Calderwood. </p>

    The former Bolton chief was only last week was linked to Portsmouth after Harry Redknapp's surprise switch to Tottenham. </p>

    But Allardyce has had no job offer since he left Newcastle ten months ago. </p></div>
