one of the few things that need tweaking, make the ground have a more up to date appearance and get messages across about everything tyketasticical if you don't hear the announcer you would still see the info on screen clearer and enable another advertising revenue stream.like watching the telly!only bigger

Thought Leeds' scoreboard was great! Showing the goals and highlights straight away on the big screen after they'd happened. Half-time and full-time highlights were on too. Is that not to do with LUFC TV?

We've tried, I've even got in touch with the makers and put them in touch with the club. P*ssing in the wind. The Don don't want to spend, let's carry on looking at that embarrassing thing in the corner.

Don said at the last Supporters Trust fans forum that a fancy screen had been priced up and was planned- kind of.

It'd be about £100,000 or thereabouts and would only be feasible under our current financial situation if sponsors could be found that would cover the cost, or at least most of it.

They are in favour though. Personally I think it's a great idea that would make our stadium a lot better

Don did say that which begs the question why can a supporter do research and obtain a written quote for a scoreboard from a major established company for just 36k and a second from another company for not much more while the supposed experts at the club cant seem to get below 100 grand?

Very odd. Especially when the 36k quote had already been sent to the club...

A cynical persone might think that the club dont want to spend the money so have simply plucked an expensive figure out of thin air to justify not having one.

You could say the same about a lot of things though. The answer is because not all clubs are ran particularly well

    I shall investigate this soon.
I had a rant on FB on the BFC page, about the lack of advertisement of ticket offers etc. And Mark Stokes thru FB, and twitter, has invited me down to Oakwell in January to speak with him.
    His words being
"I am yet to meet someone who hasnt changed their minds once presented with the facts"
So Im expecting Derren Brown tactics, or some other form of brainwashing. Because "Im a professional cynic, but my hearts not in it, Im paying the price for living life at the legal limit.." and so on (blur - country house, used without permission)

Re: if having a big screen scoreboard was such a cash cow...

There's more to the cost than just the physical scoreboard. There's the hardware, software and skills needed to keep it running.
We had/have a bigscreen at work, not scoreboard size, about 200" but it's fooked. Not the physical panel, but the computer database and software needed to display the content. To get it back up and running would cost £1000's (quotes from supplier) so the business have decided it's not worth fixing. So we've had a blank, switched off screen stuck on the front of our building for a couple of years.

It may be 38k for initial capital spend, but the ongoing costs for maintenance and software support over a couple of years could well be just as much if not more.

Manchester United don't have anywhere to install one do they? Every square inch of the stadium is taken up by seats. They do have video advertising boards all the way round the pitch though

The quote included maintenance and software support for 2 years and the board runs via a connection from a windows based pc and can act essentially as a second monitor just like plugging your TV into your laptop does. It doesnt NEED any software to run it if the club chose not to (though some does come with the board) and the club could just choose to show a simple video input from a camcorder if they wanted to be so basic.

Not sure whether there is somewhere to put one. They've just got the two info scoreboards, one at each end.
    Nothing for replays etc.
