Trevor Aylott is our special guest summariser @ The New Den tomorrow and I'll hopefully be doing a filmed interview with him for Barnsley Player TV. Am I right in recalling that Trev threw his shirt at Allan Clarke in the Barnsley dugout after he took exception to being substituted at home to Pompey on the opening day of the 80-81 season, or did I imagine it? If he did, do you think he'd mind if I brought the subject up during the interview?
Yes I remember that happening although I was only a bairn at the time so it's more of a hazy memory than total recall. I'm sure he wouldn't mind but he might say he doesn't remember it. Be worth a shot though.
I'm sure he did.....I believe at the time Clarkey put him on the transfer list........which was rescinded after big Trev apologised....for me Aylott was the focal point of that team and I believe was never adequately replaced......................until Ash the Cash came along
Aye, I was 10 year old then and like you say you wonder if the mind plays tricks, it does seem bizarre because I think they had a decent relationship overall and Clarkey brought him back on loan from Palace in '86 - but he was transfer listed following the incident, and only re-established himself under Norman Hunter after Clarke left for Leeds.
You dont want to be seen replying to any of my posts. I am a wrong un!!! I know that because I have been told so on here. LOL. Also is Adam on tomorrow? I feel like slitting my wrists sometimes when he starts on. Why do you reckon he blames Steele or Foster for 99% of goals we concede? He really has a downer on those 2.
I have never been any different though, in real life I am the same, I say what I see and that is how I am, I respect others for their opinions, so they should respect mine.
Be a cheeky so & so & ask him if he meant to lob the Brighton keeper......no seriously.....wish him well ......I associate him with the turning point of the fortunes of our club...........
It's a weird thing with Trevor - we were his only northern club and most of the other 8 or 9 clubs he turned out for seem to look upon him as a bit of a "plodder". Crystal Palace fans often name him in their all time worst elevens, but he was brilliant during his time here. I genuinely believe that some players have "their club" and Barnsley was Trev's. Millwall paid £150k for him in the summer of '82 - was it a case of their offer being too good to turn down?
