Weve not had glass bin collected for a month. It's all in normal bin.

Isn't it about time we had a national standard for refuse and recycling collection rather than every local authority "re-inventing the wheel"?

In South Oxfordshire, our binmen are keeping to normal collections so far. Well done them.

My main point is the lack of colour coding ours is:

Light Green - all recycling (paper, plastic, cardboard and glass). - collected every 2 weeks
Dark green - food waste. We have a small "caddy" in the kitchen which is then transferred to a larger caddy for collection - collected weekly.
Brown - garden waste - collected every 2 weeks on the same rota as the recycling. This bid is paid for (about £40 a year) and therefore not compulsory.
Black - residual, non-recycleable waste. - collected every 2 weeks.

Electrical waste and textile waste is also covered in the collection cycle.

I think this works very well and the recycling rate is amongst the best in the country. From what I have read the Barnsley system is not as good.

I know what you mean - our system is similar and so far they are almost keeping to normal - we missed a garden waste collection but then last week it was emptied so I am quite impressed so far but our system is similar to yours
Dark green food caddy - emptied weekly
Grey - non recyclable emptied every too weeks
Blue - all recyclables -plastics glass paper etc all in one bin - collected every 2 weeks - opposite week to grey bin
Brown - garden waste emptied every 2 weeks but subscription costs £60 per year

Council are giving garden waste lowest prio so if they are short that gets missed but we all get another 2 weeks added to our subscription

I quite like the system we have though annoyingly they changed things round a bit so now the garden waste is a different day to the other collections which is a bit inconvenient
