8,000 equals 250 coaches, can we cope ??http://icbirmingham.icnetwork.co.uk...ctid=18814559&siteid=50002-name_page.html
I recon clubs have sussed we are crap at vocal support at Oakwell and are making it a home game for them... After all whats the cost of 250 coaches compared to Premiership position
only birmingham season ticket holders get free bus if you dont have a season ticket you have to pay £5
150 or so coaches Where would they all park? http://icbirmingham.icnetwork.co.uk...objectid=18814559&siteid=50002-name_page.html Free coaches for Blues' trip to Barnsley Mar 27 2007 By Lisa Smith, Birmingham Mail BLUES fans will be able to join a free blue and white cavalcade of coaches to their next big away fixture - courtesy of the club's board. Chairman David Gold has offered to lay on free coach travel for every season ticket holder buying a ticket to the game at Barnsley on Easter Monday. The offer comes as a rallying cry to Blues supporters as the club prepares for the decisive run-in in their to gain automatic promotion back to the Premiership. And with Barnsley set to offer Blues up to 8,000 tickets for the game, the great city get-away could see up to 150 coaches being laid on for the journey northwards. That would even swamp the 90 coaches Villa chairman Randy Lerner organised to get fans to the Carling Cup match with Chelsea at Stamford Bridge earlier this season. Blues want to make sure they take as much support as they can to South Yorkshire for the game which kicks off at 3pm on Monday April 9. Blues will also cater for non-season ticket holders who will get their coach travel subsidised at just £5. A club spokesman said: "Barnsley will let us have up to 8,000 tickets for the game so we can take as many fans as we can to help cheer us on in the push for promotion." Tickets for the match cost £20 for adults, £12 for under 18s and over 60s and £6 for under 11s. Away travel club members have already been offered their tickets while season ticket holders have until March 31 to claim theirs. Tickets will then go on general sale from April 2-7. The time of the coach and the departure point have yet to be confirmed.
Geriatrictyke, you might try to consider that the high numbers of away fans is not because of a lack of B.F.C. vocal support but, more like we are an easy turnover for most teams to visit the well. I think most away supporters take it for granted that their team are likely to take 3 points. Unfortunately, Davey and the players have'nt yet "Cottoned" on
for games where we give the west stand too the teams should come out of the old tunnel in the middle. Having to use those changing rooms will hurt the big teams a hell of a lot more than us
excellent idea wouldnt do our players any harm either - if it was good enough for Glavin Clarke Hunter etc they ought to be good enough for our present shower
Talking of Birmingham..... I can well remember 84/85 when they came to Oakwell late season on a promotion push and there was a fair portion of mither in the town and around the ground. Not to mention the FA Cup tie when that Tony Rees chap scored one of their goals. Should we really be encouraging 8,000 Brummies to our lovely town?
would do them the world of good show them how lucky they are to have the facilities they do have. It would affect the big teams as they wouldnt be used to it and it would give us back the home ground advantage
In my opinion.... We should give those darned Brummie hordes a flea in their ear!!! It wasn't all one way for those bully boys in 1985 and it certainly wasn't behind the maiin stand in '89. I've read that book 'Zulus' and they seem to think in 1985 that Leeds 'backed' Barnsley up that day - methinks its cos of the trouble on that day did not go to script for them(?)
remember the play off game at brum. It seemed the whole away end wanted to give it some after 90mins of getting pelted with alsorts of *****.
I was not party to the Brum play off, instead i was threatened for being a 'Norvern Cant' on quite a few occasions by all and sundry in a few pubs artound New Cross, Deptford, Bermondsey ( and my wench comes into this category cos her lot had drawn at home to Wigan) due to my joy. In fact, the strangest thing occurred on New Cross Road when we had to share a table with two Crystal Palace supporters to watch the 'Chinese Elvis'. We got kicked out for laughing at him too much - the biggest of the two Palace 'lads' got all 'friendly' with the loon partner - slight embarassment at a taxi office and away we went......... Anyhow; a friend of mine who was there told me that Birmingham were baying for Barnsley's blod and from what i've learnt afterwards quite a few people going back to their cars were bullied. Typical Brummies in my opinion. (N)
