Bit of luck?

Just seen Kasper Schmeichel's **** up against Donny.

Last week he pulled off a worldie to deny us late on.

    Fine margins etc.

Despite being a regular on this forum for far too long, so somewhat used to the rather OTT nature of some posters in the direct aftermath of a defeat, I am genuinely bewildered at the reaction tonight from some of you.

We all expected a defeat today. They've not conceded a goal in 8 weeks/games. They're one of a growing number of clubs who have been rewarded for failure with the absolutely disgusting and obscene parachute payments. Their manager is generally regarded as one of the best in the country. They're a club we haven't beaten at their place since 1950. A club who beat us THRICE the year we achieved the impossible. A club with £4m Charlie Austin up front. Bobby Zamora and Andy Johnson are on their books. They could even afford to get shut of Jamie Mackie.

I could go on and on in stating just how difficult a task it was for us today, but I'm sure you all knew this already.

So why - after this expected defeat - is it "time for him to go" etc?

I'll be honest, after last weekend's defeat in Leicester I posted a thread on here stating that I wanted to see us get at least five points from the next five fixtures, and that if we failed to manage that, that my support for Flicker would probably be on it's arse. I certainly know I'd be struggling to defend him.

In that thread, I predicted defeats against Reading and QPR, a win over Wednesday and two draws (Boro, Ipswich).

We've taken a point from the first two. And despite the Jacob Butterfield inspired Boro performance today against a shocking Yeovil, I think we're a match for them. We're definitely a match - and more - for Wednesday. And we're more than capable of picking something up at Ipswich.

Whether that actually occurs/comes to fruition, I don't know. But I've got faith in us picking up our form over the next couple of months, as we take on other clubs with similar budgets/squads/crowds/expectations/form etc etc.

If then though, it does not, THEN I will totally understand the "time to go" posts that will inevitably follow.

Two week break now. Let's hope Butland and Pedersen return to us unharmed, and that in the break the management team can find us a winning eleven out of this rather big squad of players.

Good to see Bobby Hassell involved, albeit at the misfortune of another.

The injuries to M'Voto, Nyatanga and now Ramage will hopefully have cleared up by the time Boro come to Oakwell.

I'm going to stay behind the players/manager, and look forward to a huge month or so of games. I'll be at Oakwell for the next two, and I'll see the Ipswich game on TV, so that's great.

And I'll be at Spotland next Saturday to check up on King Keith, see how he's getting on.

    Chins up.

    You Reds.

Todays result was probably to be expected, we have lost at qpr with better and worse teams than we had today. Tuesday gave me confidence than we can compete but we have got to show we can do it consistently over what will be a crucial next 2 months which will determine ours and flickers fate.

ps. whitey, keefs gone let it go chap :)

    you reds

Good post Andy, you have raised some good points and I agree with most of them especially the bit about luck. We just haven't had a shred of good luck so far this season but surely it's got to change.

I hate mentioning it. It's summat Wednesday fans whine on about incessantly.

But if we've had some good fortune this season - I can't think of any - it's been swamped by **** luck. And some **** decisions from varying sources.

I'm a full kit wannker, too. Shorts, the lot.

No, but seriously, I probably won't be arsed at the time, but for my blog reasons it would be nice to get a photo with King Keith. Just for the blog. Not because I want to frame it and put it in my Keith shrine. Nowt like that. Honest.

He'll likely do it if you call him over and start the conversation with "I'm a Barnsley fan, and I still wish you'd never left...."

All sorts. Jeans and a polo shirt for pre season was a new one. Miss his use of multiple colour NY caps though.
