Think John Parr played with mickeys monkeys. Then bitter suite. Then ponders end. Before releasing the classic St.elmos fire. And made the Gillet advert. (The best a man can get.) Also Sold 10 million albums.
Some great bands around at the mo in clubland. But have to say hands down my favourites were Guns n Oatcakes followed by Mickeys Monkeys.
Brilliant venue until loads of young numptees got ont committee. Went in one night and the Pillock int box closed curtains afore band had finished. Cos he wanted to get over tut Royal oak afore last orders. One or two gave him daggers and abuse. Soon opened em back up.
Bitter Suite always opened with Steely Dans Reelin in the years. If I remember right it was Mondays at the Reform club, Wednesdays at Cudworth Village and was it Thursdays at Birdwell club when bands played? I know it wasn't great for getting up for day shift darnt pit on a week day.
Saturday's n'all at Reform. Remember that lad that used to follow Bitter suite all over. Got up on stage and was allowed to do his signature dance to ( Mick Ronson's ) Billy porter. Never knew his name missen. Think he was from Elsecar or Holland.
Bliss were my favorite band at the Reform. I also saw Def Leopard there one Monday night. We got talking to them between spots and they said they were flying to the USA on Thursday. The rest is history. They were a good bunch of lads and lasses in the Reform. We booked coaches to Sheffield where I remember us seeing AC/DC, TRB and Stiff Little Fingers.
Reform had bands Friday, Saturday and Monday. Sunday was for Bingo and entertainers like Stan Richards of Emmerdale.
