Taken from one of our forums, take care travellers: Floor collapsing at blackpool yesterday Postby payne89 » Sun Jan 20, 2013 4:52 pm Did anyone see this? When the second goal went in the guy in front of me went through the floor as the whole panel fell through! My mate fell down trying to help him and cut his leg/ripped his jeans and the other guy had to see a paramedic as his leg looked f****d. After it happened I noticed alot of the flooring panels where loose, it was lucky we were near the front as if it was one near the back it would have been atleast a 20ft drop.. Considering the state of the pitch aswell you would never think they were in the premier league recently! Re: Floor collapsing at blackpool yesterday Postby uskblue » Sun Jan 20, 2013 5:55 pm Yes mate, it was me that fell through the floor. Jumped when we scored then someone turned the lights out!!!! Luckily I didn't drop through to the floor or I might have been seriously hurt. Got some cuts and bruises and a sore leg but could have been worse. Good job I had a few pain killers before the game. thanks to all who helped me. I'll let you know how this turns out. I think Blackpool could be in a bit of trouble over this as its not the first time this has happened.
Sure this happend to a Wednesday fan the other season as well. Would have thought that health & safety would have been all over this!
I honestly can't believe they are allowed to carry on with that stand. How would they have gone on if they had stayed in the premier league
How can this be allowed? Done on the cheap when they went up probably - think they'll struggle when parachute money goes
I wasn't warned when I last went - not that I can remember anyway Not sure how they get a safety cert. tbh, particularly as it appears to have happened before. And anyway, they should cover any eventuality - and jumping up when you score is bound to to be covered surely.
I remember thinking that the away end was an accident waiting to happen last season. There are better stands in the conference.
Not exactly Championship level though are they? And, as it happens, they now play at a decent ground - The Dragons rugby ground in Zooport. They previously played at the athletics stadium and, whilst those grounds are not great, it was perfectly safe. If you're talking about Somerton Park when they were last in the league - no arguement. I think only Aldershot was worse in all the grounds I've ever visited.
As we walked in the female steward said to us all, "no jumping up and down today" which was followed throughout the match with, "bounce in a minute, we're gunna bounce in a minute"
They've basically put an awning over the temporary stand There's a sign on the way in which says, no bouncing. It's a complete joke.
I went uggins of years ago and MIKE McCarthy was the captain Plenty of other mistakes in the program. If you went to the back in the away end the 12 foot solid fence meant you couldn't see half the pitch
"Investments can go up or down". It's either there or the players/agents pockets. Football clubs do have a habit of expecting it's benefactor to give but not take. It just shows there is a profit to be made in football.
