Not just us that find it bizarre, then. Last few posts of the thread.... http://fansonline.net/blackpool/mb/view.php?id=1210518
I don't find it bizarre... These days, the 'terraces' are no place for impressionable children. Especially impressionable children who probably haven't a clue what the hell is going on in front of them. I was six when I went to my first match, and I'd just about grasped the game at that age (of course, I didn't fully understand the game still). I don't see why anyone would take a child aged 5 or under to a football match.
I don't think under fives should be let in as they annoy the **** out of me. With regards to club policy it should be left to the parent to make the call as to whether the kid is old enough. However, I think there would be uproar when little princess asked mummy what a useless **** is when she gets home.
I was 6 also, and agree with your point regarding that. But it should be down to the parents IMO, and it wasn't an issue until recently.
Yep, I hate kids! Here's the thread from when somebody mentioned not being able to get a season ticket. http://v2.barnsleyfc.org.uk/showthread.php?170843-Season-tickets!&highlight=fives
FFS this argument again. My sons had a season ticket since he was 3 nearly 4 and has sat and watched the game fine without annoying anyone. If he had been a pain I would have taken him. So kids are playing for teams at 5 years, so I'm sure they can grasp what's going off on the field.
Its just a shame because we have the "mini muckers" who are Blackpools main under 5 firm and they wont be happy at all let me thee
Health and safety because of the possibility of stray balls according to our director. Though players are allowed to take their babies and small children who sit exposed on a balcony...
Mines 5, plays on Sundays and has his 1st ST thus year. 2 wins out of 2 and he has been fine. Not been to bog once, although he cost me a burger at 3.50 (i nearly chocked at that). Needless to say a pork pie or 2 is being stuffed in my pocket from now on
Why are people still talking about this? You simply can't get a season ticket til they are 5. Nobody is doing birth certificate checks on the turnstyles/box office for those paying on the day. My little lad is 4 and has been going since he was 3 and a half. He loves every minute of the experience from the pre-match visit to the pub with his dad, grandads, uncle and family friends, the pre-match pork sarnie, the high-five with Toby before kickoff, then 90 minutes of watching every kick - with me telling him who has got the ball for us. He knows the names of the first team players and is always pretending to be a Barnsley player in the garden and nursery playground. He completely loves it and bothers nobody at the games. If the ball came near him i'd head the sodding thing back down to the pitch out of his way. He'll be hooked for life like myself and my dad before me. People need to stop bairning about all this. Take your kids if they want to go and you think they'll enjoy it. I tested my kids out with a pre-season friendly and reserve games til I was confident that they wouldnt be a complete pain in the wotsits. Just have to accept that they can't have a season ticket til they're 5.
