Blackpool moved there game to the Friday night at home to Cardiff. They have now cancelled it all together! They must have agreed with Cardiff as both of them are playing in the carling cup on the Wednesday night so they wouldn't fancy a Friday game, and Blackpool wouldn't want Wed, Fri/Sat then monday!! So we now play Saturday + Monday, and Blackpool play on the Wednesday before the Monday. Big advantage that to them!
That's a disgrace! How can they be allowed to just cancel a fixture? This should be reported to the FL, I think there is a only a ruling that says they don't have to play 2 games within 48 hours so they should be told to play Saturday or face a points deduction.
It's not that big of an advantage, we'll go into the game hopefully brimming with confidence and eager to kick on from the win before. I used to love playing games in quick concession, waiting around and training does give you some sort of a break - but as a player, you want to be OUT there on the pitch. Not an advantage at all really.
email to the Football League As a result of Barnsley's home fixture against Blackpool being moved from Tues 6th Nov to Mon 5th Nov for Sky TV coverage, Blackpool took the decision to move their fixture against Cardiff the previous Saturday to Friday evening which Barnsley chose not to. I understand that they are entitled to do this. However, because they are involved in the League Cup the Wednesday before, they have cancelled the Friday fixture. Surely this is failure to fulfil a fixture and a breach of league rules. I understand that there is a "48 hour rule" that states clubs may move or postpone a fixture if it would otherwise cause them to play 2 games in a 48 period, however this is not the case, they could still play on Saturday afternoon and then Monday evening. Previous clubs to fail to fulfil a fixture (e.g. Middlesbrough) have been deducted points. Can you advise Blackpool will face disciplinary proceedings in this matter and if not can you please justify such a decision? email address fl@football-league.co.uk
So does this mean that if say Howard gets injured we can simply rearrange our fixture list to ensure he misses the 'easier' games and is back for the big ones?
RE: email to the Football League (clap) Can't wait to see the reply!! These Monday games after Saturday are a joke!! The premier league teams moan like fook if they play 3 in a week for god sake!!
