Sold Hoolerhan to Norwich for £300k guessing they've realised that its do or die for them this year. Smaller gates than us an all. Gonna be a tough old year unless we speculate and get some quality in up front.
RE: Stockport striker 21 goals this season. Only 22 years old - genuine potential - not 27 year old potential like some other lower division signings...
I think we'll continue down the line of buying players who haven't cut it at other clubs but once showed "potential"
RE: How why where They already do. They turn up for Doncaster Rovers matches, Rotherham United matches, Sheffield United matches, Sheffield Wednesday matches, Leeds United matches and Huddersfield Town matches (and probably many other teams).
I shall reserve judgement we tried to unearth hidden gems from abroad and that hasnt worked, I hope this summer we have a realistic go at signing players who have a decent & recent track record. We need less numbers, so quality not quantity should mean we can compete. I hope. If the competition are spending that kind of money, we shouldnt be wasting time looking at the likes of Jack Lester or ambitions of finishing top half are just wind and piss. Again.
RE: How why where 4th worst supported side in last year's Championship.
Not good enough if we're thinking top 10 finish.

RE: How why where I'm just suggesting that a fair few people in Barnsley go to watch some of the other teams from South and West Yorkshire at the expense of Barnsley Football Club. But Cryne said it was in the plan to reduce costs at the club and they couldn't focus on marketing at the same time. So that's what you get really.
This 'marketing' we keep going on about. There's marketing the club to businesses, in terms of sponsorship opportunities etc.
There's making season tickets/matchday prices more affordable. which is a boardroom level decision.
But at the end of the day, everyone knows that there's a professional football club in Barnsley. They have a choice whether to go or not, or just to pop along when we play Chelsea. the club can only do so much 'off field'.

No matter what marketing strategy they come up with it all depends on.... the results of the team, do well and they'll turn up and pay whatever. Everyone could find the money for a Wembley/Millenium day out and a season ticket for the Premiership. Some families went to Wembley who aren't season ticket holders and paid top whack tickets for their families of four, another hundred quid on top of what they paid for the family day out and they could buy a season ticket.
RE: This 'marketing' we keep going on about. I disagree, every aspect of the customer/fan experience should be managed to give a positive impression wherever possible.
RE: Sold Hoolerhan to Norwich for £300k Can I ask where on earth this Hoolahan thing has come from? Not on BBC Norwich site or transfer page
RE: bang on. nt To generate revenue.
On here we seem to think that 'marketing' is the ONLY thing needed, or that the lack of it is what's keeping our crowds low.

RE: This 'marketing' we keep going on about. Ihaven't said otherwise.
But success on the field is THE most important factor.

RE: This 'marketing' we keep going on about. Yes, but the two go hand in hand, increased revenue is necessary to build a team capable of performing well on the pitch.
