Absolutely awful and probably worst playing surface I have seen. Couple of points I would make:- (1) How can the FA allow a professional club to have a pitch as bad as that (2) Blackpool can play football, so why don't they try and get a pitch that helps them
it looked bloody awful on the highlights, like a sand pit. You'd want to sort that out if you were aspiring to the premier
You're obviously a young lad then if that's the worst playing surface you have seen. Back in the 70's that pitch would have been one of the better ones this time of year. Derby, Leeds, Chelsea were all top flight clubs back then but the pitches were like quagmires. I've seen some corkers at Oakwell 'n all with some right mud baths. Rochdale 5-0 springs to mind when Joe Hayes whacked in a 30 yarder. Better drainage and under-soil heating has improved things but its pissed it down for a week in the North West so what did you expect? I'd rather play a game on a pitch like that than have it called off. Football's gone soft.
i don't think the sun would have helped that pitch the ground staff have alot of work on there hands to get that sorted
Not that young really......started watching REDS in mid 1970's. The Blackpool pitch looked terrible when they played Cardiff a few weeks ago.......and no different/improvement on Saturday. Crazy thing is, it works against Blackpool as they are a decent footballing team.
the argument with pitches being worse 40 and 50 years ago doesn't take into account that the ball used to be a lot heavier, doesn't take much to knock the modern light weight balls well of course.
