I had a minor motoring scrape with a motorcyclist 15 months ago, which was so insignificant I was surprised a damage claim was even made, let alone a personal injury one. My insurers accepted liability, but wouldn't settle the amount the other side wanted and let it go to County Court. I now have a County Court Judgement in front of me in the sum of £6,500 and I stay on the CCJ register for 6 years unless my insurers cough up by 4th february. Even then I need to pay a fee to get off the register otherwise I may struggle to get credit. I shudder to think what she would have ended up with if she'd actually come off the bike and took more than a smidging of paint off each vehicle! Neck, back and psychological problems my arse!
Sorry to hear that. I had a minor scrape a couple of months ago (not my fault). The AA seem to have sub-let their "claims assistance service" these days, and I finished up with one of these "no win no fee" outfits handling things. They seemed more interested in getting me to file and personal injury claim (against the party that pulled out in front of me) than getting my car fixed. I suppose it's more fool me for not making one....
That's the problem The insurance company get a large commission from the Solicitors for each person they convince to make a personal injury claim.
Simple Solutions to this... Probably too simple as I am not a lawyer. 1) Change the burden of proof. Currently, if an accusation is made, the target of the accusation has to prove that he/she is not guilty. This is the opposite of the burden of proof in criminal cases. In a business environment, if an employee makes a claim, they will get some money - FACT. This is true regardless of the circumstances of the claim which in many cases are totally fabricated. I know because I've been on the receiving end of it on more than one occasion. 2) Make it possible to lose a case as well as winning one. Lose financially I mean. At the moment, if you successfully defend a case you still finish up with a large legal bill (or your insurers do if you have legal insurance) but the claimant pays nothing. If costs could be awarded against the claimant, or even a compensation award for a flippant or fabricated claim, they may think twice before bringing it. Please not that I totally agree with people who have suffered because of negligence of others being compensated - it is the fabricated cases and the ease of bringing them that are the problem.
Well batted mate Once batted 14 overs against them (coming in at no 11) trying to save the game. Ernie was fielding at silly point and the sledging was brutal. Water off a duck's back though - kept backing away when the bowler was in his delivery stride - that seemed to do the trick and he shut up. He was (still is) a good player though. Brighty eventually got the other guy out (a recognised batsman) and we lost, but I finished up 0 not out after 14 overs Any way PM me sounds like you can do a job for our club if you get 115 against that lot.
x they were a strange lot heseltine was a great bowler so too was rob jones but one thing was for sure , they always pissed me off and i always tried 50 % harder ernie asked me to open with him and keep wicket but i couldnot keep up with the trouble they wanted.
OK so you played for them and against them Are you still playing? If so, any clues? I remember one game against Houghton Main at our ground - it was the day the reds were playing away in Birmingham in the play off semi first leg when we won 4-0. We had radios positioned all round the boundary. Despite being fierce rivals we were dancing around hugging each other on at least 4 occasions, before resuming the sledging. Great afternoon as well - I ran their last man out off the last ball of the game to win. Some beer went down that night I can tell you.
It's all to do with reaction time mate Try this http://www.gamefudge.com/Reaction-Time-Trainer It is interesting when you have had a drink or two
no not playing now im in suffolk did not play with them when asked to transfer was at ackworth as captain for 9 years , opened with tony boycott and batted with mark boycott kept wicket with g.stevenson at ackworth several times as he warmed up for john player games , he was 90 mph then , hot gloves and fast chances , loved it. opened with tim boon for 3 years at ackworth he went on on to manage england with fletcher to win ashes , great fun and respect to them all/
RE: no not playing now im in suffolk Played against Stevenson at home and at Ackworth years ago as junior - at home scored 4 fours in an over off him - sounds good but they were all edges He was sharp but a great guy to play against. Must have been fun keeping wicket to him. We get on well with Ackworth and enjoy playing them even though they usually beat us - can't compete really as they pay players (as you probably know) Anyway I was thinking of playing again this year but now that Gilchrist has retired the club are going after him. Anyway as a keeper you will know what I mean about the 2nd most beautiful sound in the world............
