    Stahlrost (the BBS rottweiler) starts getting aggressive, throwing his weight about and he intimidates me.
    Johnny Evans scored after about 2 minutes, Barrow then scored 3 times, before Allen Bradbury (I think) scored a consolation near the end.

    They dropped the '& Boscombe Athletic' in the early '70's and became AFC Bournemouth.

    We lost 3-2 at home to Barrow 10-Aug-1968.

    My first game was against Port Vale (I think) sometime in the mid 60s. My dad took me to most home games for a couple of seasons. I started going regularly in 1978.

    First game after promotion. John Evans scored in the first three minutes and then Barrow (who were a good fotballing side) went on to snatch the three points. I wasn't at the game because I was playing cricket for Ackworth away at Carlton Tower under the Drax cooling towers. Bowled for three by a doubty old seamer called Mick Laverack. His first ball left a red mark across by stomach. His second trapped my fingers against the bat-handle. His third knocked my off stump out - we lost!!!

    Carlton Tower had an amazing player called Gravis - he knocked a fifty without breaking sweat. Oh! and they were a load of snobs!!!

    Catch of the season, though, for me! I was fieldong long off and a catch came and was dropping well short of me. I raced in and got to the ball, still running, with the ball dropping around my ankles. The ball hit me on the wrist at the same time as I slipped and fell flat on my back. As I tobogganed a couple of yards, the ball appeared as if by magic from the blue sky and dropped straight into my hands! You should have seen the look on the batsman's face! YOU'RE OUT, PAL!!!!
