this is what i just can't get my head around with footballers. poor results lead to rumours of player unrest, unhappy with manager etc.. new manager comes in and 'hey presto'! footballers are employees like the rest of us, but i and many many others dont go to work for our managers: many many of us don't like our managers, yet we continue to work, to do a good job, put the effort in etc.. we do it generally because the company pays our wages... it is evident that footballers are a special breed therefore, not prepared to put 100% in if things arent going their way, just because they dont like the manager, not prepared to tolerate his tactics and ways etc.. precious little souls..
Alternative spin Being played to play in formations and tactics that dont suit your style of play = poor result Manager who understands how to get the best out of the players = good result Also Spurs had a bit of luck in a couple of early games and suddenly get their confidence back and tonight Liverpool reserves were dreadfull - I reckon we could have beaten them (Oh we beat the first team last year didnt we )
if you are a well paid professional footballer you should be able to adapt: people in professions that are classed as 'professional' (teachers, doctors etc), have to be adaptable, yet footballers sulk terribly when things arent going their way: lack of intellect perhaps? many successful managers have gone to other clubs (george graham for ex to tottenham) and failed miserably, yet they have proved they are great man managers (arsenal success)...players noses are clearly put out of joint when new managers introduce systems that they aren't used to and aren't comfortable with.. they appear not to have the wherewithall to deal with this
