Excellent tribute to Bobby. Hopefully, we get to say our goodbyes in a proper & fitting manner to him in a testimonial against worthy opposition.
Then we move on, as a club and fans.

For me, a most appropriate and respectful tribute to Bobby. Some goose-pimple moments in there Andy, thoroughly enjoyable though.
    Thanks for the positive memories.
    Cheers, Mark

Nice work whitey. A retweet from bob too I see. I didn't go to the QPR game, so I'd be truly gutted if the testimonial didn't happen

Well summed up, Kev. That is my intention anyway. To say goodbye this Summer (if the club get their finger out) and then to move on. But I do find it somewhat disappointing that the club haven't made their own video in celebration of a club legend, nor do we have an interview with the manager explaining his retained list (every other club in the region have done this).

At the football tournament on Friday, for charity, the only BFC (or, ex BFC) players there (to my knowledge) were Bobby and Bruce. Again, I find that a little conflicting with their apparent new era stance where they want to realign themselves with the town and it's people/needs.

    Big Summer ahead.

Hassell has been a loyal servant to the club and I wish him all the best for the future but sorry describing him as a legend is way over the top.
All this Sir Bobby stuff, well the less said the better.
Should have been released at the end of the 2013 campaign and IMO the club have made the correct decision to allow him to seek new pastures.

That brought a lump to my throat.

You're entitled to your opinion, Dr Zazlos. But if Bobby Hassell doesn't deserve legendary status then we may as well pack it all in now. As for Sir Bobby, I never once referred to him in that manner in either blog or video.

Not suggesting you personally referred to him as Sir Bobby but certain fans have.
The Word Legend is for the likes of Pele, George Best, Maradona, Messi etc
In the context of Barnsley FC legends, Hassell comes nowhere near the likes of Glavin, McCarthy, Evans, Redfearn etc
He has been a good solid pro over the years but if your describing him as a Legend then yes its time to pack up.
All about opinions and in my 35 yrs as a fan i have seen numerous better players and in fairness non of them have given the club 10 years service but you cannot attribute the word "Legend" to the player just for that.

Perhaps I've got it wrong here (as par usual), but I thought it was the responsibility of the committee put together for a testimonial year to arrange all the organising for a game? That's not to say there shouldn't be help and contributions, free of charge, from the likes of Messrs Cryne, Watkins, Taylor & Mansford.

Did you watch the video? I could only fit in the major highlights, but be fair, they're some highlights aren't they? Part of the promotion squad, FA Cup semi finalist, never part of a relegated team, turned down more lucrative deals to stay here, totally dignified throughout what has been an horrendous three years for him personally, raised thousands and donated thousands himself to many charities around Barnsley, most of which he's a patron of, lives here, loves the club/town/supporters... I could go on. He could play a bit as well.

    Yet he's not a legend?

As Cunning Stunt said, you're in a tiny minority with that view. But each to their own.

Yeh probably in a minority with my opinion but not a Footballing Legend for me.
I have the utmost respect for his fund raising efforts and the way he's conducted himself while at Barnsley.
But as you say each to their own.

I'd have to say in terms of his contributions on the pitch Bobby falls quite a bit short of legendary status. A quick if lazy comparison would be McCarthy, Evans or Winstanley. Bobby has been a great professional has made a fine contribution on and off the pitch but not in the highest echelons of our players. That's no disrespect to him I've enjoyed his time with us and he develop from a raw player who looked out of his depth to a consistent performer with lots to offer.

Don't understand why you included things such as the penalty save, where bobby isn't even in the frame, or fosters goal at anfield, but not a bad video overall
