lol liverpool is funny and bradford is famous for having more pakistanies then a city in pakistan lol
Don't think it's either May actually be fact. http://www.visavis.org/vv/montreal.asp "Two thirds of the population are French, making it the largest French speaking city outside Paris."
Pretty sure thats wrong I'd presume that 95% or more are Canadian, with about two thirds of those being French speaking Canadians. Someone should remind them of General Wolfe and the many brave lads we lost in order to save them from the horrors of being French.
Population of Montreal 1.8m, two-thirds speak French so that's 1.2m. Second largest city in France is Marseilles with population of about 875k. Voila, more French speakers in Montreal!
RE: Population of Montreal 1.8m, two-thirds speak French so that's I eat fish, doesn't make me a dolphin though.
RE: Pretty sure thats wrong They'll be "French" in the same way that Italian-Americans describe themselves as Italian and half the population of New York claim to be Irish!
Just to stop you bleating... And butting in... I was responding to this "Two thirds of the population are French" Not french speaking, not francophiles not 'likes the taste of birds drowned in cognac'. Now, stop looking stupid and be on your way, silly child.
RE: Pretty sure thats wrong Possibly. Still not actually French though. I don't know, a pure pedant actually defending an error, what is the world coming to.
So why reply to my reply then Flipper? Can you not get the hang of this board or something, it's not that difficult.
By the way, have you come up with any other great theories lately, or are you still working on the 'we're descended from wolves' one? ffs.'stop looking stupid', right!

it is wrong officially 2nd is Kinshasa capital of congo then if taking french speakers a lot of north african cities headed by casablanca are higher, arabic is first language but french 2nd and spoken by all
Hehehehehe You're trembling with rage and shaking your fist at the screen now aren't you. You're an analysts dream, a PhD all of its own.
RE: Pretty sure thats wrong You're dipping into Quebec politics, so it's going to get complicated. Some Quebec sovereignists can be sensitive about being called French Canadians, so the school marketing blurb linked in the earlier post plays safe and just says "French". A further debate would be around the number of French speakers and the number of people with French ancestry. The usual stats about Montreal being second to Paris refer to the number of French speakers and are not referring to ancestry. By the way, all Canadians have the right to be educated in French immersion schools. We chose this for our youngest. ---------- http://wapentake.wordpress.com/
