bloke on radio sheff yesterday said Heslop and Joynes are cracking players

he seemed to know what he was talking about - he said Heslop was the best prospect he has ever come through the reserves / youth team and also that Joynes was a decent striker.

Atkinson seems to be holding his own. I hate to say this and would love to be proved wrong but I think there is pretty much no chance of us staying up. I will always get behind the team at the games but I think that even if the new signings come good there is just not enough time. I think we have to start looking towards next season, so lets get these lads back, on the bench and give them time to gel with the first team and a bit of experience in a red shirt if they are good enough.

Has anyone else seen them play?

Where was kay yesterday? was he injured? i think him and atkinson are our best defensive pairing - reid looks past it!

</p>Same as Mattis I've only seen Heslop play once, last week on tv and I'd put him ahead of Mattis on what I've seen so far.

 

Kay won't leave

he's like Mr. Winstanley

far too involved in the club to leave, even if he is good enough for another club. I honestly think it'll take something special to take him away from us in the next few years, especially if the club do the sensible thing and drop Reid making Kay captain with Atkinson in the middle.

Then why did it take our home grown player so long in the close season to sign a new contract ? And how come when offered a 2 year deal he only signed a one ? I can see him going in the summer unfortunately.

A couple of times he's stalled on contract offers, and at this stage in his career, he'll want to play at the highest level possible.
