PUNK legend Adam Ant is to write his memoirs, it has been announced.

The book, called Stand And Deliver, will be published next year.

It will be based on private diaries Adam, who's real name is Stewart Goddard, has kept since the 1970s.
er........who?

I'm lost here. Do you know who Adam Ant is? I'm not being funny. Just wondering. He's lived an interesting life, battled to overcome mental illness, not to mention being the most famous man in the country during the early 80s. A few cracking songs too.
RE: I'm lost here. Yes - I know exactly who he is and am very familiar with his up and downs and musical "genius" if that's the right word.
If people think that a few hit records in the 80s, followed by a demise into obscurity and all the rest of it, merits publication of a life story, excellent, there must be a greater market than I thought.
Can't see it catching on myself.

"Punk legend"!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Really? Punk? Think he's having a revival though - my niece's 18th the other week and she'd selected a load of stuff to play and all te young girlies were dancing and singing to Adam and the Ants!
He was an extemely famous man back in 80/81 I doubt there were many people in the country who couldn't recognise him. And whether you like Adam and the Ants or not the sound they had was highly original. Only Bow Wow Wow have ever sounded anything like them, which is not surprising seeing as Malcolm McClaren stole Adam's band. We've heard nothing like it since. Maybe you think that's a good thing, but I liked that furious drum rattle and punk/pop sounding guitars. Then there was his image that ensured even his later mediocre songs continued to sell. Legend is over used. Of that there is no doubt. And it probably doesn't apply here, but within the punk movement, which the article implies, I don't think it's far off.
RE: He was an extemely famous man back in 80/81 Reminds me of pre match 80/81 in South Yorkshireman with Ant Music blaring out, ahh almost brings a tear to my eye !!!
Fair enough I wasn't dissing him as a person, or what he achieved in music at the time.
Good stuff but hardly legendary.
I just think that a "life story" for somebody that age, is a bit premature, if not over the top. I'm not sure exactly what the pages of such a publication are going to be packed sufficiently with, to make it a worthwhile buy, with a wide enough market.
I will apologise here if I am proved wrong.

Not wrong, it's your opinion But I think there are much easier targets if that bothers you. There are many footballers in their twenties with autobigraphies out. I believe both beckham and his wife have both released 2! At least Adam Ant has had time to look back on his career and assess it before releasing his memoirs. He must be in his 50s now.
