If COG goes there its for the money only, nothing else to gain at that massive club except a better wage.

They have a better chance of promotion with their squad than we do with our wafer thin one.

Was it ever alive? I realise I risk being burned by saying this, but isn't this a story that has only ever existed in the minds of journalists? As that report says, Nigel Clough isn't talking about signing O'Grady. His chairman isn't. Danny Wilson isn't. Neither is Ben Mansford or any of our board.

Earlier in the summer Nigel Clough passed comment about Chris O'Grady being a good player. Ben Mansford stated that the only acceptable bid Barnsley received was from Charlton. Danny Wilson recently reiterated this. Ben also said that he'd be surprised if Sheff Utd could afford his wages, never mind his transfer fee. That's been it, from both clubs.

From that we've had all sorts from the press, bids accepted, ongoing talks, a break down in talks, talks back on again, and on and on it goes. But nothing from the player or either club. It's all ******** isn't it?

I believe so too, and hopefully this latest "story" will begin to put everything to bed about the whole thing.

Alan Biggs is desperate for this to happen - he 'championed' the story early on. In my opinion Clough or someone at Sheff Utd said they'd like to sign him and he's never stopped since.
