https://audioboo.fm/boos/1910997-ba...eet&utm_medium=social&utm_source=twittershare So we've had flare mules bringing smoke cannisters in to the stadium for older lads to use and various incidents in that corner of the ground too. If it's so important why aren't stewards in every stand checking tickets?
It's a crock of *****. If it's that important they should be checking the tickets at the gangways to the seats rather than steaming in. The only folk that'll be getting in any trouble will be the fans. Not the stewards looking for a do.
There hasn't been issues any where else? Only in that area from that cluster of fans? Vandalism/ Smoke flares etc. They want people in their seats as they are easier to identify if they are causing these sorts of problems. We need to be mindful that if the club are have to bring in extra policing or are stopped having the police free games then the cost of policing will increase. The current cost is stupid BTW. We certainly don't want to be paying more as it really impacts on the playing side of the club.
They used to do this back in the day. They'd always take my ticket, look at it, and point me in the right direction. That could have been purely to do with my being a lass and then wondering what on earth I was even doing there.
remember it kicking off a few years ago with the stewards getting heavy handed, ended in fisticuffs !!!
I remember it kicking off in the mid 90's, think it was 1st year ponty was open as an all seater stand, think the stewards then were from Sheffield.
Yep, a couple were Blades and made no secret of the fact. Think it was a midweek game v Portsmouth when it proper blew up.
Yeah I think you are right, remember a wheelie bin getting flung at them in the corner near the west stand
west stand....v pompey.....bouncers from sheffield....bounced out of the ground....last seen running up players tunnel.......
True story back in the late 80s I worked for MIND the mental health voluntary organisation. Half our service users were stewards at Oakwell but there was never much hassle. Looked from a distance that the stewards were looking for trouble until they came across the bigger older lads and then didn't know what to do.
Carnt see why mansfords come out with that statement to be honest, why not come out and appoligise for the under hand tactics doyles used on saturday, fair play people not sitting in the right seats but answer this one would the atmosphere be like it is if them lads were not in that area. my next point brings me back to the wigan and bolton game at home,2 smoke canisters went off against wigan why did it not get nipped in the bud after the first one down to doyle security, then bolton bring one did they not learn from wigan??,but we let one off and the clubs talking about a 50k fine,so we are getting singled out,I am all against em but whats right for us then should be right for them with the fines surely
The club are never going to condone action against Stewards. If they were set in the correct seats then the club would be able to identify those who have been ripping up seats, causing vandalism and letting of smoke flares. If they dont like their allcoated seats they are able to move them.
Tbh mate I have different people sat next to me every home game and there tickets ant got the right number on it,we have all done it in our time 'empty seat there ill sit there' my little en sits next to me on game days cos I ant gunna leave him at other end of the ground will he be kicked out??,in my opinion could of bin handle differently to what happened
Sounds to me very much like the stewards are following instructions coming down from the board. Glad I'm not one of those flare mules. Wouldn't fancy shoving a great firework up my arse.
Pompey game when it all blew up, bin lobbed at the stewards from top of Ponty and a couple of Wombwell lads ran two of them up the tunnel whilst the game was still on. The lads got beat up by a few coppers in the tunnel and handed banning orders.
