Be very surprised if he doesn't play next week tomfun. Hope he goes for one of the younger players at the side of him. Don't think we should offer him another contract.
I disagree. I think we should offer him another contract. I think he should be first on the team sheet next year, and I would make him captain.
Injured most of the season. TBH would be no better than those who played, and that is why he wasn't selected. Too old for the battle next season, so forget him, and thank him for his past service, but stop going on about him. This Sir Bobby nonsense gets my goat. In the past we had great servants of the club earning a pittance to what he's paid (Barry Murphy and Frank Bartlett to name but two), what next for him 'a sainthood'?
Waste of a contract. Rightly or wrongly, none of the past three managers have played him so why is he still here?
I don't want to be accused of taking over a thread but you've got to remember he's never been a regular or the best right back in the team.
I would have played him more often because I've always rated him. However, I'm not sure his body is up to it any more. I don't mean he's lost his quality, it's just that every game he plays at full pace appears to injure him. I think the monumental effort he has put in for this club over the years in the constant battle against relegation has taken its toll.
I think it is more a case of being ignored by arsehole ****ers for months then being asked to go at it full pelt for 90 minutes which causes his injuries not his age. I also know he hasnt been injured as much as previous managers pretended he was so they didnt take flack for not playing him. With a pre season and a run of games hed be immense for us next year
I'd like to see him here next season as he showed against Leeds & Derby he's still got the ability but it all depends on how his body is & whether we're likely to have him available on a regular basis. If he is leaving then I hope he starts & captains the team next weekend & gets a fantastic send off
He'd be good to have around next season, for his experience. He's a steady player in a number of positions, but I've never regarded him as this fantastic player that some fans seem to think he is. We all have different opinions. He'll always be held in high regard for his length of service at Oakwell. The fact that he's currently constantly injured may mean his days, physically, are numbered. Get him involved in the coaching and keep him as a squad player.
If he can get and stay fit then he could still do that DM role next season. Whenever he has played he's shown himself to be a good player.
When you see that slow clogger brown playing for the weeds, then why can't bobby do the same for us , as he reads the game well and is still our most natural defender
Really hope Wilson signs him on, whether that's a playing role or a coaching role (or even both?). I'd be more upset to see Bobby go than our relegation to League 1, was braced for relegation since February tbh so it didn't really bother me yesterday which is quite scary!
Mansford should not have over ruled Flitcroft last summer...both Hass and Steele should have been released...the major cause of unrest in the dressing room.
