hope that testimonial game for him is not that lot from s6 . nice European team or rangers would be nice
Thought it was announced it's going to be a Barnsley XI vs a 'Bobby Hassell XI'? Don't see what connection Bobby has with Rangers. Why not Celtic?
I attended an Evening With Bobby Hassell at the Lamproom a couple of years or so ago. He said if he could select the opposition for any potential testimonial game, he'd choose Celtic.
Whoever it is the crowd won't be as big as it would have been a year ago, because the moment has been lost.
I've been told to keep quiet on this, so for once, I will be. But I concur with some of the remarks above.
Whatever it is it looks like an appallingly way to treat a player like Bobby. If the shambles can be explained then the club should say something.
I'd love to update folk (the ones who give a ****) on this, but I have to respect others' wishes. But I can agree with the feeling that the longer this goes on the less impact his testimonial will have. It should have happened last summer. And everyone with half a brain fully agrees that the way this club treats its former players, the special ones we've had especially, once they've departed, well it's ******* poor is what it is. Regards this testimonial, what I will say is this - remember how Ben refers to football, and this football club. It's a business. Unfortunately, I see it as much more than that and valuing/respecting/honouring the likes of Bobby etc should be a ******* given. But then, he was treated appallingly for much of his time here at the end anyway. So I'm no longer surprised by owt. And the way it's run, BFC, there'll never be another legend anyway, because we turnover managers/players like the (bad) business we are. I'm in a **** mood this aft.
I think we'll see one next season, personally. And I have a lot of time for Ben. He's certainly 100% committed to his job, and definitely wants us to succeed. He's only the CEO remember, just like Don before him, he's not the sole decision maker. Barnsley FC and its decision makers should have walked over hot coals to accommodate Bobby Hassell's testimonial, last summer. The bloke should never have been released to be honest, but that's a different story.
I'll have my two penneth! Stevie G leaves LFC, it's like someones died. Lampard the same. I think it's abysmal that not one thing has come from the club to honour Bobbys 10 years. FFS we have multiple w4nks when we employ yet another manager. It's feckin scandalous. I know Bobby is away plying his trade, but his committee are in Monk Bretton! It's utter *****! I don't think we'll ever see another testimonial cos that how football is now! It's harsh but true. I think the club ought to hang their head in shame. It's embarrassing at best!
I have a horrible feeling it isn't going to happen. Bobby is history for the current Management, if not for us fans. If it does go ahead Ireckon it will be a "Bobby Hassell XI" not "Barnsley"
