So thats a goal every 3 games, which for us... Isn't bad what so ever when you look at the Striker's we've had in the past. Why is he not getting played on a regular basis? What have Macken and Odejayi done that he hasn't? Has he fecked Davey's bird or something? Because by my accounts you play your most prolific striker from the start and not use him as a 'super-sub'. Can see him getting pissed off he Davey persists on placing him on the bench and wanting a move away. Read earlier in the summer there was interest from England and Germany for him too. Play him Davey, trust me. He'll make your job alot easier...
By my reckoning... thats 15 goals a season, not including cup games, maybe 20 in all competitions. Why isn't he starting, KO and Macken won't get 15 combined.
RE: By my reckoning... Yup - 46/3 = 15.33. When was the last striker to get 15 goal's a season for us? We are going to be waiting alot longer if we don't play him, he won't want to sit on the bench all season and watch Macken and Odejayi miss chance after chance, after chance, after chance. What does have to do to start a game? Really starting to get pissed off with this, fecking play him Davey! :'(
Goal per amount of time on pitch Goals per game does not tell the whole story. Some of the games he has not been on the pitch for the whole game. The number of goals per each 90 minutes pitch time would be an interesting statistic!
You cant argue with the stats; on paper he is the best striker at the club. I dont think Davey see's Oddjob and Macken as better strikers, i just think he sees different strengths in them. Boggy will get games either as a starter or a sub and if he keeps scoring Davey will have to give him more chances.
Also bear in mind how many of those 18 appearances he's been brought off the bench, or taken off with 25 minutes left, or stuck out on the right wing for some reason. I bet if you could somehow work out how many minutes he's played up front his scoring record would look much better.
Maybe Gray is Boggy's partner up front, Davey has eased Boggy into English football gently he has learned by experence and by fans reactions its working its must be like music to his ears.
Odejayi on the pitch ........ .... Bogo on the bench, or on the wing ....... then Davey wonders why some reds fans think he's not up to the job
who would be his partner though? Macken or Oddjob? who would you go for? personally id say Oddjob (reluctantly) and bring Macken on for 20 mins or so
He's got a great record, but for most of the game he's anonymous. I think Davey just likes to have more physical players tiring opposition defenders and then brings Boggy on to capitalize. Wouldn't surprise me if he's on the bench again on Saturday.
Mr Davey DID say recently in the Chronicle that if players DID WELL, they would (now) stay in the team. In the past, SD has been guilty of dropping players that have seemingly played well, and also sticking with players that are clearly struglling.
What do you mean by "Anonymous"? I think that he is working hard for the team and weighing in with goals too, so he IS contributing wherever he can.
good summary. Should work very well for the club unless he gets precious about starting and does a Tevez.
