The thing that has them in the ***** is the wages they are paying. Other than youth players we could not afford the wages of any of their first team squad.
Mark Davies, but he could do a lot better; Craig Davies, if he has not already gone; Darren Pratley, who could also do a lot better than us. Pratley, however, is the kind of combative, holding midfielder we need to replace Pearson. If we cannot get him, and I would think he is good enough to stay in the championship, we need to scout for someone like him. I think the holding midfield position is the most crucial of all for the rest of the season. Get in the right player and we will end up mid-table at worst. Don't fill the gap well and we could remain in relegation trouble until the very end.
I note that Craig Davies is permanently at Wigan and not on loan, so that's a non-starter. Would have been good, though.
