If anyone's looking for a book to read, especially the animal lovers amongst us, you won't go far wrong with 'Marley & Me' by John Grogan.

In much the same way as 'Fever Pitch' speaks to most football fans, even though it's written from an Arsenal perspective, 'Marley & Me' will speak to most dog lovers.

It could be a good stocking filler as we're rapidly approaching that time of year again.

    Second that one

I loved it. As someone who had two black labradors I can see a lot of them in Marley, they are bonkers dogs, their puppyhood lasts a long time but it is all worthwhile. My two liked to chew stuff and nick food off tables too, but they learnt their lesson early on as pups when they got stuck in the pantry one day and no one was around to rescue them.

Even the ending, sad as it is, is handled lovingly and will provoke a great response.

Try 'Walking Ollie', it's basically a quick read, but seperates dog owners who want their dogs to enjoy life, from those who see a dog as an accessory to suit their own needs.

    Really great read.
