I go on holiday next week and need some good reading material. I usually read historical fiction, thrillers or footy autobiographies.

Can anyone recommend something worth a read ?

    Cheers Dave

C J Sansom - The Shardlake series. Mystery series set in the time of Henry VIII. Superb
Stieg Larsson - The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo and the two other books in that trilogy. Fabulous thrillers.

    Have a good holiday. :)

Anne Cleeves crime books - especially the ones based in the Shetlands. Some of her other books televised in the 'Vera' series.

Minette Walters another excellent crime writer.

For 'light' reading try one of Paul O'Grady's autobiographical books.

At present I'm reading about the history of Warsaw 1939-45

    Enjoy your holiday!

I found River God and Seventh Scroll by Wilbur Smith to be a good holiday read - many years ago - before kids ... when you could still relax and read on holiday.

I've really enjoyed Fight Club by Chuck Palanhiuk recently and A Kestrel For a Knave is always brilliant. I also really enjoyed 'Wrong Boy' by Willy Russell and all Stephen Fry's novels are worth a read.
