There's no doubt we have a lot of possession and we complete a hell of a lot of passes, but it's like watching paint dry. No it's not, it's like watching one of those training routines where 10 players form a circle and pass the ball to one another while a bloke in the centre attempts to get it off them. Fine for 30 seconds or so, but soon your mind is wandering and you find yourself thinking about a lass you went out with 20 years ago.

It takes us an age to get from one end of the field to the other by which time the opposition just line up in front of their goal and we pass it sideways from one flank to the other and back again. We don't even look interested in scoring goals. We had a free kick 25 yards from goal, so did we have a shot, did we flight it in to the box? No, we took a short pass out to the flank so we could play pitter-patter a bit more.

I've been to five home games this season in which we've scored 4 goals, had about 8 shots, passed it sideways about 8 million times, lost 1, drew 3 and won 1. It's dull.

Perkins played well though. Really well.

We are, I agree. It's far too slow though.

On the plus side I can't see us taking many pastings this season as we simply don't allow the opposition enough of the ball.

It was really poor tonight and we robbed a point. Simple balls were not being kept in play and it was only going to be a moment of awesomeness that would get us a goal. Watching I couldn't see a goal coming. Usually i'm optimistic and think we might sneak one but not tonight. Keef needs to get a striker in on loan for saturday.

Yeah lets get back to letting Fozzi pump pointless 50 yard diagnals for the opposition to pick up so we can chase shadows.

I don't mind O'Brien. Didn't rate him in our first season but thought he was excellent in the first half of last season.

Must be hard for players when they look up the pitch and see Harewood, they must think whats the fecking point and pass it sideways

I dont think thats the problem at all, its the same when Davies is playing!!
The problem is we are too bloody slow at moving it forwards, Yes play the passing game but there is no need to take 30 passes when if they used their loaf, 7-8 passes would suffice and there would be less defenders getting back.
    Just my opinion though.

Couldn't help thinking of Mick 'the crab' Maguire as we slowly moved it left and then right at a snail's pace tonight. To be fair to our lot this evening though, it was either that or play it forward to Marlon to lose.

It does not have to be a big lump to Harewood though, just passes that actually move forward quicker, pass the ball, then move forward into space instaed of standing still or moving back and starting all over again.

almost every pass Dawson received today he had his back to the Palace goal, so theres only one direction that his pass is going.

I`ve seen him hit one of them with great accuracy every home game this season, last nights was out to Etuhu, thats our outball when he has no other option. Doesn`t always get it right by a long chalk but then he is a defender and not a ball playing midfielder.

    Possession football

I quite enjoy watching us pass the ball around, makes a change from lumping it, sometimes the build up is a bit too slow, but Hill is a firm advocate of keeping the ball as a form of defense and it hasnt done Swansea any harm, long may it continue.

If I was to be critical, Id say our final ball needs to improve. Goldbourne in particular gets into good positions but too many times his ball is more hopeful than dangerous. We also need to commit more bodies into the box, and with 1 up front, that relies on the midfielders (Mellis, Done, Cwyka) to get into the box at every possible opportunity.

    Re: Possession football

I don't really get bored, I don't have the concentration levels it requires. But on the rare occasion that I am, I always keep a couple of emergency episodes of the Big Bang Theory on my iphone just in case. :)
