Gooners suffer mass sense-of-humour loss!!! http://www.independent.co.uk/sport/...b-and-depicted-fans-as-criminals-8837195.html
It's not a comedy though, it's a drama. Seen loads of programmes where they can't use the actual logos, particularly on the BBC.
I can see where they're coming from though. We wouldn't like it if Barnsley fans were depicted as thieves and chavs - the bbs would go into meltdown. We get complaints of stereo-typing after the Sky show the old Barnsley Main gear every time we're on telly.
the thing is this though ALL clubs have their louts and yobs. None are free from that element, none at all. WORLDWIDE that is too. I wonder are there any other sports other than soccer that have hooliganism as a serious blight. I am struggling here to think of one. But am certain someone may enlighten me on this.
Yes if I was a Gooner I would be a bit miffed - as it is I am with the Spurs fans on this one though - just like we would find it hilarious if Blunts or Fowls were stereotyped in a bad light
Also the plot-line is directly nicked from Serpico. Arsenal could throw plagiarism into the mix, if they could spell it.
Re: the thing is this though There was trouble at the boxing at the Metrodome last week, but then people just said it was football fans. Trouble does flare up at other sports but people are always quick to say "oh, but they were football fans that came". Funny that, to me they were at boxing, so they were boxing fans. Do they also like football, yes thats possible, but the incident was at boxing.
It's not really stereotyping though, it's just a character in a drama is scripted as an Arsenal fan. There is no inference that all Arsenal fans are ming-mongs and criminals.
