As all of our matches so far have been 1-0, are we the League 1 George Graham Arsenal? The only problem with that is can we consistently keep clean sheets to make it work.
Duff says in his interview that if we're not scoring loads of goals we have to be tight at the back to win games. A wins a win.
Done ok so far. 1 goal conceded in 3. Take that ok goals not coming frequent up top but look solid enough. Hope so beat derby. My bro in law went to stags v derby although derby won he said they were rubbish and stags could of beaten them on a different day with chances they had .
Away at Middlesbrough, weakened side, id snap your hand off for a 1 nil win. We'd be stupid to suggest otherwise. Were 2 league games in, transfer window open. Boring nothing so far. Id take it all day long
As others have said, I'll take wins however they come. I used the boring tag in jest as the games so far have been 1-0.
Would like Norwood to get a goal or 2 mate. Give him a bit of confidence and get him off and running. Derby be a very tough game, be lovely for him to start there
I have taken notice of these stats & if this doesn't scream out that we need a couple of stikers( & the upmost RESPECT) to our current line up then I don't know what will. We'll piss the League if we can get the afore mentioned front men & maybe another bossy midfielder.
Never thought we would score loads with the strikers we have available and the lack of goals from midfield but if the defence is tight you always have a chance.
If only we had the Kieffer Moore and Cawley Woodrow we had last time Id be hopeful of at least a top 6 finish - still the window is open for a bit yet and who knows what will happen. Current strike force not really good enough at the moment though but its a lot less of a problem if we dont let many in
It's early days, and a sample of 3 games ain't much to draw conclusions from. Given I've only seen one of the three I don't feel very qualified to comment, but v Cheltenham (and equally against Sheff Utd in the friendly) I felt we were lucky to get away with the clean sheet, rather than particularly solid at the back. Cheltenham missed 2 absolute sitters in the first half, and for all our efforts we didn't create any better chances than they had. Still, clean sheets definitely breed confidence in a defensive unit and Duff is talking very positively about defending as a group, so it definitely gives us a chance if we get a bit more creatively into the forward areas.
I've been making this Boring Boring Barnsley joke in my head, following two 1-0s. Duff will be getting the rope out in training next (although I understand that was a myth).
