After reading Whiteys blog, and one or two more on here plus Threev, the proof of how boring we are is born out by our fans yesterday. We flood the midfield with players and pass up and down and back, and Winnall runs round not knowing where to turn for a chance. He gets hammered by their big defenders but still keeps trying. Our massive midfield make us look good with side and back passing, but do not like LJ says break up that often and are mostly behind in supporting Winnall. Our back four are good. We are like busy bees flitting from flower to flower but forgetting the idea is to collect honey. Now all this bored the big fan base silly. Proof of this is in their usual banter and singing being non existent. The Donny fans had a few young lads giving a bit at the back of their stands other than that they were non existent. We had nearly 3000 there and I thought here we go!! Result nearly silent, no " where's your caravans" no nothing ? We never got singing, and why? Simply there was nothing to sing about. Will we improve under LJ, the jury's ready for going out. Time will tell. My own thoughts are that at present we will meander around 8 or 9 in table but not good enough or consistent enough at present to push up and hold it. His decision to break up our good back four beggars belief!!! I thought oh! He is going for a win. Result we blew it. No defence, no young Smith, no Wabara, no Scowen. Our best part of the team the back four totally dismantled. They could not believe their luck and in that last 10 minutes exploited the big hole and we get nothing when a point was precious to us. Out of ten Johnson a poor 3
There's seldom any atmosphere generated by either side at Keepmoat stadium, aside from our usual congregation in the top corner, which again yesterday was pretty noisy. But with their fans seemingly banned from the area adjacent to the away end, no banter could be had. No noise travelled from one end of the ground to the other either. It could have been a 3-3 thriller and I doubt the noise levels would have been particularly good.
It died out based on two reasons. 1 - the team gave us little reason to keep singing 2 - it was Doncaster, it's just not a proper rivalry
You need to be near other fans for decent banter , their fans had been moved away from the away end. Thats why the atmosphere is dead at Oakwell , opposing fans at opposite ends of the ground. Think it depends on where you were sat , it was loud up in the corner but can't comment on further across the away end. Suppose if you sit in the top of the Ponty End you think its loud when they start singing but from down the side of the East Stand the noise doesn't carry.
